Was my first real highlight of 2014. I caught onto it last year with "Love Is To Die", which immediately drew me in with how its instrumental layers formed a tight package that stuck out (because I heard it on the radio in another room while I was listening to something with headphones, but the melody came through and really connected with me). It made me instantly excited to hear what else was in store.
I think this album works best as a full package. I don't think a lot of the tracks were made to stick out at all, but when you lay them together, it's just a really nice and rewarding package. Though I wouldn't say it's short of hooks, as plenty of tracks are full of them, "Disco//Very" is incredibly catchy for instance. All well and good, and I think it's what separates this from "The Fool" which I haven't been able to get into as much as this one. This feels like a more refined attempt at that, with more textures, and a warmer vibe than its predecessor. I eagerly await what comes next, I just hope it's a little quicker this time! 5.0
