▒ Aparte, maar aangename plaat en track uit begin maart 2017 van de 26 jarige Britse zanger en songschrijver: "Edward Christopher Sheeran", afkomstig van zijn nieuwe studioalbum: "÷ [Divide]" !!! Ruim 4 sterren ☺!!! | |
En toen kwamen alle songs van het album in de single-chart binnen. Dat zou toch niet moeten kunnen. Dit is overigens wel een erg leuk nummer (en zeker niet misstaan als echte single). Ed Sheeran opent met een Eminem-pje. Pakt best goed uit. | |
The production sounds like '00s Enrique Iglesias, if mainly for the guitar riff. Although this then sounds less genuine (or more confusing?) with Ed's inept rapping over the top. Lyrically it's a bit pretentious which seem to become an ongoing theme throughout the album. The pre-chorus/chorus is quite good though and that certainly makes it worth being the album opener. 3.5 | |

Yeah I can see why the general populace haven't really taken to this so much. It's really frustrating because of all the songs on this record that sound like they're trying to be as different and out there as possible, this is far above the rest of the crop. The chorus and pre-chorus are about as good as I could've hoped for when it comes to '÷'. I could do without the rapping but it's not as bad as I would've expected. The guitar is ear catching which is a plus. I certainly wouldn't have an issue with hearing this more. | |

Met de opener van 'Divide' mengt Ed Sheeran pop/folk met hiphop. Ik moet zeggen, het klinkt niet verkeerd! 5 sterren! | |
This as an opener sets the optimistic listener up for an interesting journey however the skeptic or critic in me wound up to be heading for another chore of blandness. Takes a while to get going but once it does, it really goes well. That opening verse works to its detriment though. |
